About OKC Rupanugas / ISKCON Oklahoma City

The foundation of our organization is deeply rooted in a spiritual prophecy made over 500 years ago by Lord Nityananda, who foretold that the chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord would one day spread to every town and village around the world. This vision began to materialize globally through the mission of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, who established the Hare Krishna movement internationally, inspiring millions to reconnect with their spiritual identity through devotional service and the chanting of the Holy Names. As part of this global expansion, a spiritually inspired couple from Detroit, Michigan, who had embraced the teachings and practices of this movement, relocated to Oklahoma City in 2009. Motivated by a desire to share these teachings locally, they initiated the first Bhakti Vriksha program in their home during the fall of that year, under the blessings of Their Lordships Sri Sri Nitai Nabadwipachandra. What began as a small weekly gathering has grown into a consistent and vibrant devotional community. Since its inception, the group has met every Friday, offering spiritual discussions, Kirtan (devotional singing), and fellowship. Over time, several members have received spiritual initiation under the guidance of His Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaj, with mentorship from our esteemed Siksha Guru, His Grace Yugal Kishore Prabhuji. Through the continued support of senior devotees and spiritual leaders who visit and encourage the community, the organization has steadily grown, staying true to its mission of fostering spiritual growth, community service, and devotion to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna.

Our Founder Acharya

Srila Prabhupada came to New York in 1965 and in twelve short years made the chanting of ‘Hare Krishna’ known throughout the world. He started a spiritual revolution wherein devotion, simplicity and compassion became the direction for living. Coming from a lineage of self-realised teachers, Srila Prabhupada gave a fearless exposition of devotional wisdom which had been kept locked within India for centuries.
